How did the dream start…….Absolute Koi, came about after a lazy day lying on a sunny beach in the far east at Christmas time in 2003. Having kept Koi for several years ourselves we were very familiar with all the obstacles of Koi keeping and many a weekend was spent travelling up and down the country trying to find good Koi, most times sadly disappointed with the quality.

So, we thought, why not set up our own company, where we can go to Japan and hand pick high-grade quality Koi for ourselves.
So, as soon as we arrived back home we started the wheels turning and in March 2003 the company was established as a Limited company and Absolute Koi was born.
Then the hard work began, developing a Koi house on our premises.
Darren had already designed and built his own 21 foot, 6 feet, 6000 gallon pond himself, many years ago, but now we needed to build homes for around 1000 Japanese Koi.
After 3 months of hard work and late nights the Koi business was up and running.
There were 4 holding vats each running off separate filter systems.
Advertising was the next stage, we had to now attract people's attention to this new and exciting business, generate awareness that Absolute Koi was born.
After careful consideration we knew we had no choice but to advertise in the 3 main Koi magazines, Koi Keepers, Koi Carp and Koi Ponds and Water Gardens.
So, design work was set in motion and our first adverts where ready to go.
All we needed now was our Koi. Our first shipment was console, the only reason being, we didn’t have the finance to go to Japan straight away, as all our money had been put into developing the business.
Even though we weren’t happy doing console, we did extremely well and the response from customers was very positive. This gave us the confidence, motivation and determination to push on and extend the business by installing another 3 holding vats.
This was a big gamble so soon in establishing the business. But after many a night arguing the idea out, we decided to take the risk. We knew it would give customers a more varied selection of Koi to choose from and take the business forward, keeping up with our competitors, letting them know we where snapping at their heels!
The business has grown from strength to strength in such a short space of time, the positive feed back from customers is encouraging and this is how we decided to have our own website designed. We sought out to find the masters in this field, and we chose Starsnsites, known round the world as the foremost authority on Koi website development. This once again would give our customers more options, as we would not only have a website designed, but it designed to accommodate online shopping facilities and so this dream was fulfilled.

Absolute Koi doesn’t plan to stop still, we are constantly developing new ideas on how the business can grow, but not forgetting our customers and their needs for high-grade quality Koi and products, keeping up with new ideas all the time.
We strive ourselves on our one to one personal professional manor, putting the customer first at all times and always considering what is best for the customer and their Koi keeping. We offer first-rate service and will do our best to accommodate your Koi needs, nothing is too much trouble for us.
Absolute Koi’s 2 directors, Darren Gray and Donna Ramsden, have lived and worked in Worksop most of their lives. Darren has kept Koi for several years and has a strong passion for Koi keeping. He is extremely interested in filter equipment and maintaining a healthy working pond. Donna’s interest in the business is Koi health, she hates to see a fish suffer unnecessarily, through parasite problems, bacterial or poor water quality. She is kept busy in her full time job, but always puts time aside at weekends for Koi health.
So, that’s how Absolute Koi was started and where it is today.
Absolute Koi welcomes you and hopes you too will enjoy our dream, grow with us and be part of Absolute Koi for years to come.
We look forward in meeting you soon and appreciate any comments you have on our business.
Regards
Darren and Donna
